Stertil Koni’s on the buses11 July 2016

Keighley Bus Company says its vehicle workshop is operating more quickly, efficiently and safely, thanks to the installation of a Stertil Koni four-post vehicle lift.

Replacing a standard inspection pit, the ST4175 electro-hydraulic lift is proving to be highly versatile and easy to use, says the operator.

While the pit was satisfactory for routine inspections, it was often unsuitable for subsequent repair and maintenance tasks. Since the 17.5-tonne capacity lift has been installed, buses can now be repaired and inspected without the need to move them to different areas of the workshop.

The lift has a 9,000mm-long platform, which provides a low drive-on height of 240mm. This means that every vehicle in the fleet, including low floor buses, can be driven on to the lift safely and easily. Maximum lifting height of 1,900mm is achieved in 72 seconds via a control panel on one of the columns.

“Having relied upon an inspection pit for a number of years, our workshop engineers were a little unsure about the benefits of the new Stertil Koni four-post lift,” admits Paul Shaw, workshop manager.

“However, within a very short time, they could see how versatile it is and how much time could be saved by inspecting buses and working on them in the same place. Accessibility to buses is superb and the programmable control panel is so easy to use. None of us would want to be without the Stertil Koni lift now.”
