The finding comes after research by TEG to mark the fifth anniversary of its partnership with fleet management software provider Teletrac Navman.
TEG operates two of the UK’s largest freight exchange services, Haulage Exchange and Courier Exchange. Integration with Teletrac Navman enables members to connect jobs with vehicle location and to dispatch work to drivers through a single application.
Simon Bunegar, TEG’s head of business development, says traditionally fleet tracking systems are not designed to win new business: “But when you integrate telematics with a freight exchange platform, it’s a very different story.
“Integrated members, who can forensically demonstrate control over their fleet, are in great demand. And with Courier and Haulage Exchange’s smart load matching technology, finding loads for members whatever their location, the vast potential of this exciting partnership is being realised.”
Essex-based Redhead Couriers was the first TEG member to adopt the technology five years ago. Andy Ling, managing director, says it has made “a huge difference”.
He adds: “It has helped us win more business because contractors, who are also integrated, are always able to track our vehicles are in real time. And because we have integrated vehicle tracking, even those who don’t have the facility to do so can use smart alerts to track our vehicles. We have found that this has increased demand for our services considerably.”
