TfL releases free Ordnance Survey data to reduce bridge strikes14 October 2019

Transport for London has partnered with Ordnance Survey to offer vehicle operators free access to information on height restrictions for tunnels and bridges.

The data (available via the link below) will cover all bridge structures within the Greater London boundary / M25 and will see structures grouped into five specific groups. These bridges can suffer from strikes by oversized vehicles, such as HGVs or cranes, despite signage on the approaches.

TfL says there are, on average, two bridge strikes in London each month, causing delays not only to other road users but also to rail or tube services, which often run across them.
