The Newcastle Upon Tyne operator can now weigh all vehicles on site, before and after conversion, in less than 40 seconds, obtaining individual axle and gross weights to a guaranteed accuracy within 0.5%.
The compact footprint of the Axtec 5000 was ideal for Aliweld’s site: it measures just over 2 sq m compared to the 45 sq m required for a conventional weighbridge.
“Having our own weighbridge saves us time and money, and we believe it will pay for itself in about 15 months,” says Aliweld director Toby Welch.
“We have to weigh each vehicle twice, so once we had hired a driver, fuelled the vehicle and completed two trips to our local weighbridge, the costs were adding up.
"Better still, we have a print out of a vehicle’s weights for our records and for the VCA.”
