TNT Post UK is cooking on gas with Prins dual-fuel LPG conversion 24 October 2013

TNT Post is reporting success with what is being hailed as one of Europe's biggest single-deal dual-fuel diesel and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) HGV conversion projects, with Prins Autogas UK.

TNT Post started work on converting 80 of its 120-strong fleet – all Renault Premium 460 Euro 5 6x2 mid-lift tractor units back in January 2013 and completed the work in April, and has now been running for six months.

Southampton-based Prins Autogas estimates TNT Post will benefit from an annual net saving of 8—10% on fuel costs. And, although the order value has not been revealed, Will Putter, commercial director at Prins confirms that list price for similar conversions is £6,500 per truck.

Prior to the fleet roll out, TNT Post trialled Prins' system for 12 months. Its test HGV also faced detailed examination at the Millbrook vehicle test and development facility in Bedfordshire, as well as comparative running against a standard diesel TNT Post vehicle.

TNT Post and Prins Autogas are working together to optimise savings through driver training and updates to the Diesel Blend system installed.

A new tank bracket has also been developed by Prins Autogas UK's engineers to speed conversion to its system.

"TNT Post UK gave Prins UK the opportunity to prove the Prins DieselBlend LPG product on its Renault Premium 460 HGVs for reliability and savings, and we passed with flying colours," comments Putter.
