Tolchards toasts payload and performance of Isuzu Forward30 November 2016

Tolchards Drinks has taken delivery of two Isuzu Forward 7.5-tonne rigids for its Hampshire and Somerset depots, citing payload and vehicle reliability as the reason for its choice.

Supplied by dealer T Harvey, the Newton Abbott-based operator’s new additions are its first from the marque and are Forward N75.190 manual rigids, with sliding curtainside bodies, and join its 27-strong distribution fleet.

“After evaluating several different vehicle makes, the Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigid was the obvious choice for us as we needed to maximise the weight carried on each journey,” says Tolchards’ depot manager Tony Perkins.

“With the Isuzus, we are able to achieve payloads of at least 3.5 tonnes which is perfect for our business.”

The trucks are on high-intensity multi-drop operations where they will be principally operating at maximum weight. They are expected to cover at least 25,000 miles a year and will remain in the fleet for between five and seven years.

“Isuzu was the best proposition for this new vehicle programme as their compact size, payload and rugged reliability made them stand out,” adds Perkins.
