Topaz upgrades fleet with Volvo Trucks02 June 2016

Topaz Energy Group, Ireland’s largest convenience and fuel retailer, has taken delivery of three rigid Volvo FE tankers and one FM tractor unit, part of a fleet replacement to improve efficiency, reliability and safety.

Supplied by dealer Dennison Commercials, the artic is a Volvo FM-460 6x2 Globetrotter and the tankers are Euro 6 Volvo FE 320bhp 6x2 rear steer vehicles, with Volvo I-Shift automated 12-speed gearboxes.

Topaz has specified several safety features, including forward collision warning with emergency braking, lane keeping support and an electronic stability package.

The vehicles also have enhanced visibility options, such as red seatbelts, four-way camera systems and lower nearside kerb windows for pedestrian and cyclist safety.

The new trucks come with Dynafleet, Volvo’s telematics system, which provides real-time information on vehicle positioning, driver activities and vehicle performance.

Ray Dolan, general manager for Topaz, says: “We evaluated a number of manufacturer brands, but were most impressed by the total package offered by Dennisons and the Volvo product, coupled with the service coverage available… Dennisons service levels are measurable and have been demonstrated by impressive MOT pass rates, out-of-hours breakdown response times, parts availability and general customer satisfaction.”
