Transport engineers show opens next week in Birmingham 08 April 2010

Two halls of Birmingham's NEC will play host to the biggest commercial vehicle operator event of the year from 13 to 15 April, when the Commercial Vehicle Operator Show arrives in the city.

Many of the 250-plus exhibiting companies will be tempting visitors with new products that might help save operators money and time, and make transport engineers' lives easier.

Those operators looking to save money on their fuel bills have been invited to BP's stand. One of the big stories will be an announcement about the extension of the BP Plus Card. The company has signed a deal with Texaco, which allows card-holding drivers to use more than one in three UK forecourts.

Elsewhere, visitors will get the chance to see the Handeman hot water hand wash unit in operation on the Teal stand. Providing enough hot water for 10 hand washes, the unit is powered from a conventional lighter socket in the vehicle.

The Axscend stand will give show visitors the first opportunity to see TrailerMASTER, the company's trailer management solution. The service comprises three parts; an Axscend data collection unit (DCU) fitted to every trailer, a website driven by the needs of the operator, and a team of trailer management specialists on hand to help.

"TrailerMASTER has been two years in the making, and is the result of years of experience in trailer management," asserts Axscend's managing director, Tim Steer. "It tells you where your trailers are and their current load status. This, in turn, means you can analyse your trailer fleet's performance, save time, cut costs and improve efficiency."

The IRTE stand (5750) will be stocked with the latest issue of Transport Engineer magazine, and IRTE membership and engineering council registration advisors will also be in attendance.
