TRL works with Transpolis on international test site 02 July 2015

TRL (the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory) has just revealed that it is now working with the French road safety testing facility Transpolis to offer full-scale safety and security barrier impact testing worldwide.

The partnership means that TRL is able to provide a range of impact testing programmes via Transpolis' test site in Lyon – which now serves as a European hub for TRL's impact testing.

TRL's engineering and assurance director Neil Sharpe says the move is part of the organisation's strategic plan to develop a global network of full scale security and safety impact test facilities.

"Having these test facilities at our disposal and within easy reach of the UK not only enables us to continue to offer full scale testing services, but, more importantly, provides our global client base with continued access to our world-class consultancy and expertise in the design, standards definition and interpretation of full scale impact test data," states Sharpe.

The test site will continue to be operated by Transpolis, but tests booked through TRL will be managed and attended by TRL personnel.

Transpolis is accredited by COFRAC, the French equivalent of UKAS (The United Kingdom Accreditation Service).
