Tyneside Express fleet adds Ryder DAF trucks 27 March 2014

Gateshead-based general haulage contractor Tyneside Express has added four DAF CF 85-460 6x2 Euro 5 tractor units, plated at 44 tonne, to its 14-strong fleet.

Darren Casey, managing director of Tyneside Express, explains that the trucks are being supplied on a five-year contract hire deal with Ryder.

"We needed to expand the fleet to take advantage of new business opportunities in the food packaging sector and the contract hire deal with Ryder meant that we could avoid the financial impact of a major capital investment," states Casey.

"In addition, we wanted to identify the most appropriate powertrain specification for our business needs and, working with Ryder, we decided to place an early order for Euro 5 equipment ahead of the latest emission changes," he adds.

Casey says that, having previously rented trucks from Ryder, he likes the "flexibility, reliability and customer service benefits" that the firm offers.

"So we decided that Ryder was the perfect partner to add new trucks to our fleet and help us to grow our business."

"The financial impact of new vehicle acquisitions can have a major impact on a business' bottom line," observes Phil Ashton, Ryder head of area sales north.

"Partnering with Ryder enables them to operate high-specification, fuel-efficient equipment while reducing the financial burden on their business," he continues.

"Outsourcing to Ryder also significantly increases vehicle uptime: all of our trucks are supported by a first class service and maintenance regime, operated by our own national network of depots and appointed agents."
