Type Approval for CBF’s lateral protection system16 May 2012

Commercial Body Fittings' ASGK990 series lateral protection system now meets the requirements of Regulation 73 (European directive with regards to lateral protection devices).

With the impending Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) Directive, CBF says it has been working with the VCA to acquire a conforming 'E' marking for the equipment – and that, following tests, approval was granted for fitment to the following vehicle categories: N2, N3, O3, O4.

"It's a great asset to us to have been granted this approval," comments Mark Negri, CBF's managing director.

"Our side guards are already widely used throughout the industry. All legs are hot-dip galvanized and offer great resistance to corrosion, coupled with anodised aluminium rail and pedestrian guards," he continues.

And he adds that fleet operators can now buy an off-the shelf compliant system to meet the requirements of WVTA.

"Although our initial stock will not be available until August 2012, we have approval certification and mounting instructions readily available, which will aid our customers in applying for one of the WVTA directive routes," he explains.
