UK-manufactured fire engine features new Allison e-axle 07 June 2022

Emergency One, the UK manufacturer of fire and rescue vehicles, has integrated the Allison Transmission eGen Power 100D electric axle into its new E1 EV0 platform on a MAN TGM chassis.

It is presenting the vehicle for the first time at the Interschutz exhibition, 20-25 June 2022 in cooperation with Allison. It is the first time a truck propelled by the eGen Power e-Axle has been shown in Europe.

eGen Power is a bolt-in electric propulsion solution compatible with the existing vehicle frames. It features two fully-integrated electric motors, a two-speed gearbox, oil cooler and pumps. The twin-engine 100D version has a continuous output of 454kW and a peak output power of 652kW.

The eGen Power 100D axle is described as one of the most powerful electric axle systems on the market. Its design prioritises starting and climbing capabilities, as well as high speed and efficiency. This allows fire and rescue vehicles to offer unsurpassed performance and reliability, strong acceleration and excellent manoeuvrability. Allison also offers the eGen Power 130D, a variant of the 100D, specifically designed for the European and Asia Pacific markets, where many commercial vehicles require a heavier 13 tonne gross axle weight rating.
