Updated Logistics Guild portal offers more for professionals 02 June 2015

The Logistics Guild’s web site has been relaunched, with channels to connect members, help with skills and qualifications and deliver personal benefits.

Logistics Guild founder Paul Brooks explains that new benefits include a free seasonal vehicle check worth £25, 5% off vehicle hire with Enterprise and a Currency Card offering good exchange rates with no commission plus free overseas ATM usage.

He also says members can expect free tickets to football and cricket matches, as well as special rates on landlines and broadband connectivity coming soon.

Members whose employers pay for an enhanced benefit package also get: Gourmet Society membership (giving up to 50% off at local restaurants); a 7% discount retail card accepted at 50-plus high street retailers; 3% savings on supermarket shopping at Asda and Sainsbury's; 10% off vehicle hire with Enterprise; lowest corporate rates available on gym membership and 20% off car servicing at Kwik-fit.

Brooks also states that momentum is building with the Logistics Guild – stating that 80,000 individual members signed up during Q2 this year and adding that the organisation is now targeting 250,000 members by the end of 2016.

"There is a widespread recognition that we need to raise skills levels if the UK wants to drive up productivity, growth and job creation," comments Brooks.

"There are 2.3 million people working in logistics in the UK and a third of these do not have at least a Level 2 qualification. Therefore it is incumbent on us to focus on an individual's motivation around a logistics lifestyle and how we can excite people to take up both benefits and qualifications."
