Vauxhall’s new Vivaro promises greater fuel efficiency15 April 2014

Vauxhall has announced the arrival of the new Vivaro van, with better fuel efficiency and carbon emissions than its predecessor – the top performing light commercial vehicle for Vauxhall/Opel.

The new model, says Vauxhall, combines the functionality of a light commercial vehicle with the comfort of a passenger car and includes technology such as a laptop holder and Intellilink 'infotainment' system.

Variants include two lengths and heights, giving increased load capacity, and new turbo diesel engines.

These are the 1.6CDTi (90 or 115bhp) and the 1.6 BiTurbo CDTi (120 or 140bhp), which has sequential turbocharging and a twin-cooler system, delivering fuel consumption of up to 49.5mpg with 149g/km CO2.

An optional 'eco' driving mode can also be activated to further improve fuel performance.

At 1,500 rpm, the 120bhp BiTurbo generates maximum torque of 320Nm and the 140bhp version delivers 340Nm.

"The Vivaro is in a fiercely competitive market, and today's customers require more from a light commercial vehicle than ever before," says Steve Bryant, brand manager.

"The British-built Vivaro looks set to further strengthen our position in the light commercial vehicle market."
