Vehicle maker takes golden gritter on tour12 September 2019

Ripon-based gritter manufacturer Econ Engineering has released details for a UK tour, starting later this month, where it will be visiting local authority events with a golden gritter, built to mark 50 years in business.

Econ supplies 80% of the winter maintenance vehicles used on Britain’s roads, including gritters, salt spreaders and other road maintenance vehicles.

The celebratory vehicle, nicknamed ‘Goldie’, will first stop off at Cambridge on 24 September.

The tour will also include: a gritter drivers’ training day at Aberystwyth on 28 September; Kent County Council’s winter maintenance day on 15 October; and a public gritters and snow ploughs display at Keevil Airfield by Wiltshire County Council on 19 October.

The vehicle will then head north for a Transport Scotland event 6 November.
