Voith to open multi-million pound Coventry factory in September06 June 2016

Voith Industrial Services’ new multi-million pound wheel and tyre assembly plant in Coventry – said to be the most technically advanced in the UK – will be officially opened this September (2016).

The announcement was made today (7 June) by Phillip Spencer, Voith Industrial Services sales and business development director, on the opening day of Automechanika, at the NEC, Birmingham.

The new facility will replace Voith’s existing factory nearby, where wheel and tyre assembly has been carried out for more than 30 years, and is the result of increasing demand primarily from premium and luxury car brands.

“Our new plant, covering 150,000 square feet, is over 50% bigger, and the new assembly line, with the latest automated technology, means we can complete a wheel and tyre assembly in only 12 seconds, compared to 20 seconds on the old line,” comments Spencer.

At Automechanika, Voith is also exhibiting its sub-assembled components and promoting its facilities management portfolio, with workshops every day on the latter subject, as well as wheel and tyre assembly, and paint shop technical cleaning.
