Volvo coaches delivering on performance and price23 October 2014

Recent orders for Volvo Bus include two new Volvo B11R coaches for City Circle and a Volvo B7R for Scottish operator Woods Coaches.

Coach operator City Circle's B11R coaches were fitted with Jonckheere bodywork, and are now operating from its bases in London and Edinburgh

The coaches went into service earlier this year, after Volvo was able to meet City Circle's deadline for delivery at the start of the summer touring season.

The 53-seat B11Rs were equipped with Volvo's I-Shift transmission and automatic function check, as well as EBS-controlled disc brakes and multiplexed electronics.

They also feature TV screens, DVD, hot drinks serveries, fridges and on-board toilets.

Meanwhile, Woods Coaches B7R has Sunsundegui Sideral 10 bodywork and 22-inch wheels.

This vehicle is a direct replacement for the Tillicoultry-based operator's previous B7R, and has been fitted with a Volvo D7E in-line, six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 290bhp.

Build quality and dealer service were key factors, says managing director Jim Woods.

"We generally keep our coaches for three years, before upgrading our fleet... The Volvo dealership in Broxburn is excellent, they are really on the ball and always meet our requirements."

The full specification B7R includes 32 passenger seats, four tables, a drinks servery, toilet and full leather seating fitted by Transcal.
