Volvo delivers all round for MAM Transport16 June 2015

International haulage firm MAM Transport has taken delivery of three Volvo FH tractors, with two more arriving next month, and is already reporting impressive fuel returns.

Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, the Northampton-based operator's latest additions are FH-500 6x2 tractors and are extensions to its 28-strong fleet.

"Our trucks are double-shifted and work on a mixed schedule comprising a wide variety of loads, from full loads and heavy product to parcels. The latest Volvos are averaging 9.6 mpg," says MAM's general manager Chris Williamson.

All the FH vehicles are fitted with Michelin X Line Energy tyres and are on Volvo Gold R&M contracts.

MAM also uses Volvo's Dynafleet telematics to boost efficiency, and to monitor driver behaviour and fuel use.

"We are looking at going 100% Volvo over the next few years," adds Williamson.

"We like Volvo's reliability and we're happy with the fuel returns. We like the dealer and we like the level of service we have received from them over the last five years.

"All in all, it's a good package."
