Volvo delivers ‘unequalled specification’ for Flemings18 June 2018

Removals business Flemings of Rosyth has taken delivery of two Volvo FL rigids – its first new Volvo trucks for two decades.

The 12-tonne rigids carry Adcliffe demountable bodies, giving the operator “superb vehicle utilisation”, according to Andrew Fleming, director.

Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North’s Edinburgh dealerpoint, the pair of FLs have day cabs and a 5,000mm wheelbase chassis to accommodate the demountable body systems.

Powered by D5K four-cylinder, Euro VI engines producing 207bhp and driving through six-speed overdrive I-Sync automated gearboxes, the rigids also feature RSS0819A rear drive axles with a ratio of 3.73:1.

Other features include two-person, bench passenger seats and chassis-mounted storage boxes for AdBlue – ensuring supplies when the trucks operate in remote areas.

Explaining the decision to return to the marque, Fleming says: “Volvo offered us a very comprehensive specification that could not be equalled by other makers. We required several additional items such as differential locks and ferry lashing hooks. Nothing was a problem during the specification process and we will certainly look at Volvo again for future vehicle purchases.”
