Volvo reliability is key to Cropley B9R coach choice 22 July 2013

Lincolnshire-based Cropley Coach is now operating a Volvo B9R 13m coach, with Sunsundegui bodywork, following good performance from two other Volvos on the same chassis.

This B9R is powered by a rear-mounted D9B engine, capable of 380bhp, and was specified with electronically controlled air suspension.

The coach features numerous safety systems, all standard, including Volvo's electronic braking system (EBS), which combines with all-round disc brakes, and Volvo's VR3250 compact retarder to give a rapid reaction time and shorter stopping distances.

Hill Start Aid, Emergency Braking Assistance and Brake Blending were also included in the package, according to owner John Cropley.

"Over the past two years, we've taken delivery of two Volvo 55-seat B9Rs and they've been good reliable vehicles for us," he confirms.

"We wanted the same or similar specification again, so we've gone with the 53-seat B9R coach.

"The vehicle ... has just been to France and it is scheduled to go away again on its return. When it is covering those kind of long distances we need it not to let us down. We get that reliability with Volvo."
