Volvo Trucks chooses Boughton for hook-loaders 30 May 2013

Hook-loader manufacturer Boughton Engineering has been selected Volvo Trucks as one of its preferred bodybuilders for the new 'ready-equipped' stock scheme for dealerships.

Under the scheme, Volvo issues chassis to selected partners, who will build completed vehicles for dealers to sell from stock.

Boughton's hook-loader design has remained fundamentally unchanged for a long time. The firm says that features designed to simplify both fitting and interfacing with donor chassis include low maintenance body mountings and an absence of complicated electrics.

Safety systems include rear body locks incorporating full interlocking, as well as rear-facing secondary container locks. And the company is also known for its KwikCova auto-sheeting system, which was among the first available.

The Volvo chassis hook-loaders wil be available with Boughton's range of variants that accommodate containers from flatbed pallets to full-size 50 yard bins – all without the need for the driver to climb onto the vehicle to sheet the load.

Boughton was formerly known as Reynolds Boughton and was acquired by Skan Group Holdings in May 2011. Recently, it has co-located its headquarters alongside Skan Group's Oldbury UK operation in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. It also operates a main fabrication and assembly facility at Winkleigh in Devon.
