Volvo Trucks service promises five per cent fuel savings 29 October 2012

Volvo Trucks' new Fuel Advice service – aimed at helping haulage firms reduce fuel costs by up to 5% – involves the appointment of a fuel advisor to help with planning and driver follow-up.

"Our driver training courses in eco-driving have proven themselves to be effective, but, without professional follow-up, the results are often short-term," states Mikael Lidhage, fuel management director at Volvo Trucks.

He explains that the service consists of three modules: fuel coaching, a fuel management toolbox and fuel management support – and the haulier's commitment is to also appoints a specialist responsible for fuel efficiency.

"An engaged and focused customer who has open channels of communication with his drivers, with the company's own fuel economy specialist and with Volvo's fuel advisor, can fairly easily cut fuel consumption by between three and five per cent," insists Lidhage.

And he adds: "With Fuel Advice, even smaller haulage firms have the chance of benefiting from personal supervision and their own fuel advisor." summarises Mikael Lidhage.

The service is immediately available with the recently-launched new FH Series and will also be launched to for earlier trucks with Dynafleet early next year.
