Volvo’s TechTool check-up promises maintenance savings 14 February 2012

Volvo Bus has launched a TechTool check-up service to ensure that operators' buses and coaches remain healthy, introduced at a 50% discounted rate.

The new service is claimed not only to prevent costly downtime, but also to help ensure greater fuel efficiency and prolong the life of both the engine and the bus or coach.

The health check is carried out by a master technician at a Volvo dealership. But Volvo Bus says that for operators with multiple vehicles, the check-up can be done on site, to help minimise operational disruption.

The check-up includes: fault code analysis, cylinder compression tests, feed pressure inspection, evaluation of the injector, fuel volume, cylinder balancing test, intake and exhaust system check, clutch wear check test and brake pad testing.

For UK bus and coach operators, this new Volvo service does sound impressive.

As Volvo Bus customer services director Andy Kunze puts it: "Ensuring coaches operate at the optimum efficiency and reliability is even more important than ever in today's tough economic climate.

"The TechTool check-up provides preventative maintenance and ensures vehicles last longer, therefore saving the operator money in the long-term."
