VOSA to consult on test booking improvements 17 December 2010

VOSA (the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) is proposing changes to the way commercial vehicle tests are booked at VOSA testing stations, which, it says, will provide a better service.

Under the new proposals bookings will be made using VOSA's online test booking service or by phone, with payment made by credit or debit card, or through a pre-funded account.

"We want to make booking a test faster and more efficient, so that it is easier for the industry to be compliant," comments VOSA chief executive Alastair Peoples.

"Enabling customers to book tests on-line and by telephone will help us achieve this and will make sure that our customers are receiving a consistently high level of service," he adds.

Peoples explains that using the online or phone service will enable operators to check available dates and times at any VOSA station and receive immediate confirmation so that they don't need to spend time phoning or faxing VOSA.

The proposal does not, however, change the way tests will be booked at ATFs (Authorised Test Facilities) and DPs (Designated Premises).
