Water company taps into Ford’s commercial vehicle range09 July 2014

Water company Affinity Water has signed an exclusive deal with Ford for commercial vehicles and cars, in a change to its current policy of sourcing vehicles from several manufacturers.

The deal will see Ford replacing around 300 of Affinity Water's 570 light commercial vehicles and cars over the next three years.

Affinity's fleet services contract manager Leroy Thomas says the variety of vehicles available was key to the decision.

"Ford was the only company able to supply the range required – everything from the Fiesta Van through Transit Connect and Transit Custom, to the full-size Transit, as well as the Ranger," says Thomas.

And he adds: "Ford has also recently renewed a lot of its range. The models are new and offer increased safety features, better mpg and CO2 emissions across the range."

Most of the Hatfield-based firm's fleet are light commercials, used by engineers maintaining the water-supply infrastructure, which serves more than 3.5 million people in parts of London and the Home Counties.
