Williams Haulage claims full 15% fuel saving from Volvo FH-460 trucks26 February 2010

Denbighshire-based Williams Haulage reports "significantly higher fuel figures than any of their current mixed fleet" from its new Volvo FH-460 6x2's, plated at 44 tonnes.

Says operation's director Huw Williams: "Over the past few months, we have been running tests to determine the fuel efficiency of our latest additions. While it is still early days, they are already showing an improvement of around 15%, compared to any of our other 20 plus vehicles."

With projected fuel savings of more than £20,000 per vehicle, based over five years, Huw is enthusiastic about the whole life cost. "As a business we are always looking to maximise efficiency and make savings. The whole life cost benefits of these vehicles speak volumes," he says.

Williams Haulage specified the D13C Euro 5-compliant engine for its new trucks, delivering 460bhp via Volvo's I-Shift automated transmission. Williams also went for the Globetrotter XL cab.

The vehicles join two other Volvo trucks, all supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, Deeside, with a three-year R&M contract.
