Williams Transport extends fleet with 44-tonne Iveco Trakker18 February 2016

Huntingdon-based haulier Williams Transport has taken delivery of its largest vehicle to date, a 44-tonne 6x4 Iveco Trakker, which will be used on landfill projects.

Supplied by dealer Guest Truck & Van, the haulier’s new addition is powered by the 12.9-litre 450bhp Cursor 13 common rail diesel engine, delivering 2,200Nm of torque at 1,000 rpm, and driving through the 16-speed manual gearbox.

“We were looking for a truck that could be used specifically for landfill work,” comments ,” explains managing director Andrew Williams.

“It needed to be rugged, able to tackle demanding terrain, and yet still offer our drivers a comfortable working and living environment on board,” he continues.

“The Trakker’s impressive Hi-Track high-roof sleeper cab stood out for retaining all the comforts and interior amenities of the Stralis,” he says.

“It’s the perfect blend of driver comfort and on-board technology, matched with a rugged chassis and great off-road performance.”

Williams' new Trakker also features Iveco’s HI-SCR (high efficiency selective catalytic reduction) emissions control technology and its Turbo Brake decompression engine braking system, claimed to result in maximum safety and low running costs.

The new Trakker joins six other Iveco 6x4s in Williams Transport’s fleet of 65 trucks and 120 trailers.
