Yearsley Logistics says Mercedes Actros wins on whole-life cost10 August 2018

Yearsley Logistics has taken delivery of its latest order of 20 Mercedes-Benz Actros, with the marque now accounting for almost all of the operator’s 200-strong tractor fleet.

Supplied by dealer Roanza Truck & Van, the frozen food logistics operator’s latest arrivals are all Actros 2545 models, with flat-floored StreamSpace cabs and 12.8-litre, 444bhp engines.

The Heywood, Manchester-based operator bought its first Actros 11 years ago, and carries out a detailed cost analysis for all new vehicles.

“We continue to benchmark our trucks against the competition,” says Will Maycock, Yearsley’s head of transport.

“These exercises encompass whole-life cost analysis based on factors including fuel consumption, capital cost, and maintenance. As a result, our most recent acquisitions have been of Mercedes-Benz vehicles."

The new trucks are equipped with optional Predictive Powertrain Control systems. The latest Actros are also the first that Yearsley has specified with the manufacturer’s Safety Pack, which includes Active Brake Assist 4, Proximity Control Assist and a driver's airbag.
