Bespoke trailer is heavyweight solution for Coyle Haulage14 October 2013

Middlesex-based Coyle Haulage is using a new four-axle 13.2m step frame trailer to deliver a range of heavy road construction equipment throughout the UK.

The £60,000 bespoke SFCL67 trailer, from Andover Trailers, was specified with: a low-profile neck; eight-inch slide-out extensions to the deck, bridge and beavertail; removable top deck stop bar; and hydraulic power toe ramps, each of which has its own control.

It also has two fixed- and two steering-BPW axles, with the rear axle lifting for maximum manoeuvrability. BPW air suspension has been used throughout, with manual raise and lower control.

Coyle Haulage also wanted heavy-duty hydraulic steady legs, which are located under the beavertail to give a stable platform for loading and unloading on uneven ground. Additionally, the 38mm hardwood floor has a 3mm steel underlay welded in the outer bays to maximise durability.

To boost visibility, the trailer has been equipped with LED rear lights, stalk lights, wide load marker boards, yellow markings along both sides and strobe beacons which can be operated from inside the cab.

The trailer is the eighth piece of equipment that owner John Coyle has bought from Andover Trailers, having ordered his first Andover low loader in 1993.

"We've been commissioning the team at Andover to build bespoke trailers for our fleet for the last two decades," comments Coyle.

"They have retained our business as the equipment is reliable, durable and built to meet the needs of our business.

"We're getting as good a service from Andover Trailers today as we did the first time we ordered from them."

The new trailer will operate with a Scania R620 Topline tractor unit and is expected to be in service for at least eight years.
