Bus operator takes first Euro 6 Optare Metrocity buses for London26 June 2014

Bus operator Quality Line, part of Epsom Coaches, has taken delivery of 12 Euro 6 Optare MetroCity buses – the first Optare Euro 6 vehicles to go into service in London.

The Quality Line fleet is now made up of 80% Optare vehicles, and the new 9.9m two-door MetroCity buses are to full TfL specification.

The new vehicles were specified with 154bhp Mercedes engines mated to Allison 2100 fifth-generation gearboxes.

Prior to awarding the deal, Epsom Coaches trialled the vehicle and Steve Whiteway, managing director, Epsom Coaches (pictured, right, with David Cheeseman, Optare's regional sales manager), says he found it worked well on intensive urban operations and delivered impressive fuel performance.

"The new Euro 6 MetroCity, with its stylish modern look along with easy access and a bright airy feel inside the saloon, seemed like the perfect choice," he states.
