Cartwright and Transdek hitch up on trailer design and production

Two of the biggest names in trailer manufacture have announced an agreement to co-design and build fixed double-deck trailers.

The Cartwright Group and Transdek UK have signed an exclusive licence agreement which, they say, will combine Transdek’s designs with Cartwright’s engineering expertise.

The agreement – announced yesterday (27 April) at the CV Show in Birmingham – will see Cartwright adding Transdek’s fixed double-deck trailer products and features into its product range, engineered and manufactured at the company’s 40-acre complex in Altrincham.

It will include Transdek’s Urban and Wedge double-deck trailers, both of which provide up to 100% extra load compared to conventional, single-deck equivalents.

Mark Cartwright, group managing director of Cartwright, says: “We see the combination of our manufacturing scale and experience, alongside our flexible finance and rental options, with Transdek’s innovative flair and fixed double deck expertise, as a winning formula which will have a major impact on the industry.”

He adds: “Between us, we have a better and more comprehensive understanding of the double-deck trailer sector than anyone else in the industry.”

Mark Adams, Transdek’s managing director, describes Cartwright as “the ideal partner”, adding that Cartwright’s manufacturing capability and large rental fleet will “drive forward the volume production of fixed deck double deck trailers that incorporate our innovative design features”.

The licensing agreement, says Adams, “will enable us to focus on our core activities of design and development of sustainable fixed double deck trailers, along with our loading bay lifts and associated services”.
