CSH chooses top spec MAN TGX tractors

CSH Transport has taken delivery of four high spec MAN TGX tractors as replacements for older vehicles in its fleet, citing build quality and aftersales support as reasons for the deal.

The Blackburn-based operator’s new additions are all TGX 26.480 6x2/2 BLS models with XLX sleeper cabs. They are powered by 12.4-litre engines, delivering 480bhp at 1,800 rpm and driving through Tipmatic 12-speed transmissions.

The spec includes leather seats, a fridge, alloy wheels and the MAN infotainment systems and sat nav.

CCH’s owner Stuart Howarth says: “We have always run MANs and we have an MAN on a 16 plate with the same engine as these new trucks and are impressed with that. It is doing remarkably well and we are hoping to see the same economy in these new vehicles.

“We have telematics in the trucks and believe it is important that the drivers are aware of how they are driving and what they can be doing to achieve better economy. We will be encouraging them to make the most of the MAN EfficientCruise system, too.”

The trucks have yet to be fully deployed, he adds. Two may be used in the tanker division, so will need to be retrofitted to ADR standards.
