The Vector units were specified for their reliability and fuel efficiency – critical for the operator’s fleet, which runs 24 hours a day transporting frozen potato products between sites in Grimsby, Scarborough, Tewkesbury and Wolverhampton.
“Our fleet has a direct impact on our ability to operate reliably and cost effectively, and ultimately to retain our major contracts,” says Derrick West, national fleet engineer for ACS&T Logistics.
“We can’t afford to compromise the cold chain or risk a delivery being delayed due to downtime. Choosing the Vector 1550 units gives us absolute confidence in the performance of our fleet – we know that Carrier’s technology won’t let us down.”
The 13.6-metre Gray & Adams trailers are expected to remain in service until at least 2027 and join a fleet of 39 tractor units and 100 trailers, with each truck averaging 95,000 miles per year on trunking duties.
