Go-Ahead London expands electric bus fleet17 July 2017

Go-Ahead London has confirmed its third electric bus order from the Alexander Dennis (ADL) and BYD partnership for 30 more Enviro200 EV 10.8m buses – bringing the total ordered to 95.

Eleven of the latest order will go into operation in February 2018, with the remaining 19 next August. All will be based at Go-Ahead London’s Northumberland Park depot, in North London, which will be equipped with BYD’s charging equipment.

“The fact is that the BYD ADL products have proved themselves capable of replacing diesel buses without any operational impact in terms of daily scheduling,” says Richard Harrington, engineering director at Go-Ahead Group.

“Careful planning of the depot recharge facilities and infrastructure is of course necessary, but we have no need to use any opportunity charging.”

The announcement follows confirmation of another order last month from London United for 36 ADL BYD electric buses.

The BYD ADL partnership says it is confident of more orders as other TfL tenders are awarded.
