Hoist-It’s first Isuzu finally replaced after 13 years 25 September 2013

After an impressive 13 years and more than 300,000 miles with Wigan-based construction hoists supplier Hoist-It, the company is finally changing its first Isuzu.

The X registration-plated NQR 7.5-tonner, purchased in 2000, has been replaced by a 2013 Isuzu Forward N75.190 4 x 2 rigid.

Now the operator's third Isuzu, the Forward was specified with an Easyshift transmission and a dropside body with a Fassi 65 rear-mounted crane.

Financial director Gordon Gedling explains that, with this type of crane, the operator has a reach of approximately 8.5m for unloading products and machinery on-site.

The Isuzu's body has also been equipped with a hand rail protection system, designed for drivers operating the crane or working from within the truck body. It also has Health and Safety approved steps.

However, despite the new arrival, the original NQR, nicknamed 'The Beast', will be staying in service with Hoist It.

"Our first Isuzu is probably the best vehicle we have ever owned in the 30 years of being in business, giving us very few problems over the last 13 years," comments Gedling.

"It just made common sense to get another Isuzu when the time came that we had to consider replacing 'The Beast'. It would be absolute fantastic if we were to get another 13 years of similar performance."
