Low carbon vehicle R&D projects to get Cenex and TSB funding 05 April 2011

Cenex and the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) are calling for collaborative research projects under the niche vehicle R&D programme.

A total of £500,000 is available for low volume automotive companies that wish to participate on low carbon projects. The call for bids for grant-funded R&D projects lasting up to six months) closes on 31 May 2011.

Applications are invited from UK automotive firms that have two or more collaborative partners and wish to conduct a project to develop a new product or process around carbon reduction and lightweight vehicle technologies.

The programme is built around the established niche vehicle network, an informal network of vehicle manufacturers, their supply chains and specialist technology suppliers.

"We have been supporting niche automotive companies to bring innovative new products to market for over three years," comments Dr Viv Stephens, programme director, niche vehicle network, at Cenex.

"This additional funding enables us to extend this support to companies across the UK, and our programme complements the support to the sector currently available through the TSB low carbon vehicles innovation platform," he confirms.
