More big names reveal their CV Show launches

Latest news on the run up to next month’s big CV Show (14—16 April 2015, NEC, Birmingham) comes from Isuzu Truck, Cartwright, O&H Conversions, Michelin Solutions, Disc-Lock and RL Automotive.

Isuzu Truck says it will be launching its new Euro 6 12-tonne gvw Forward at the show – demonstrating its compact footprint and "class-leading" carrying capacity of 7,952kg.

The Isuzu F120.240 4x2 rigid comes with a 5.2-litre, 240bhp diesel engine, delivering 765Nm of torque. It also has a low chassis height, is available with either Isuzu's Easyshift or manual transmission and is claimed to offer excellent manoeuvrability.

Meanwhile, the Euro 6 Isuzu Urban N75.150(E) short-wheelbase chassis cab will also be debuted, with a Brit-Tipp all-steel tipper body, in this case offering a payload of 3,780kg.

This truck is part of a programme of pre-bodied Isuzu tippers with ECWVTA that are available off-the-shelf.

Elsewhere, Cartwright says it will be launching a record number of new products at this year's CV Show with four new bodies on a stand, including a fleet curtainsider, an aerodynamic home delivery vehicle, a refrigerated trailer and a welfare vehicle aimed at the construction sector.

Cartwright says visitors will notice that the home delivery vehicle has an ultra-lightweight body, while the new welfare vehicle is capable of a 6+1 or 7+1 configuration and has a built-in toilet cubicle and field kitchen.

As for the fleet-spec single deck curtainsider, this vehicle is claimed to stem from a revolutionary design, with features including an EN-XL rated body, aerodynamic front aerofoil and sloping roof – yet an "extremely competitive entry price".

Mobile welfare vehicles will also be the mainstay of O&H Vehicle Conversions' stand – including its own Fiat Ducato unit and two vehicles converted for Close Brothers and SHB Hire.

The Close Brothers vehicle is a medium wheelbase high-roof Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, while SHB's is a medium wheelbase high-roof Iveco Daily conversion.

As for the O&H Fiat Ducato, this is an eight-seater with ABS-moulded saloon panels and a non-slip, sealed rear compartment, designed for heavy-duty use and able to withstand jet-washing. O&H says the conversion also has washing and canteen facilities, which include a 2.5-litre water boiler, hot and cold running water, wrist to elbow sink and microwave, as well as a 15-litre compressor-driven Travelbox fridge and first aid kit.

Moving on to Michelin Solutions's CV Show stand, the tyre services specialist says it will launch a new generation of PPK (pence per kilometre) tyre management contracts, offering operators a contractual fuel saving commitment.

The launch is expected to see Michelin Solutions becoming the first provider to contractually commit to fuel savings via its Effitires contracts tyre management deal.

From tyres to wheel security, and Disc-Lock expert Bob Hope will be on his stand to discuss the common causes of wheel detachments and how they can be avoided.

Hope points to DVSA figures which show that 19% of wheel-fixing problems reported by the agency involve trucks fitted with nut movement indicators and similar devices.

"Wheel loss prevention is the only option if fleet engineers are serious about reducing costs, avoiding prohibitions and maintaining a positive profile with consumers and business partners," states Hope.

Back to tyres and if you want to see a real-time tyre pressure and temperature monitoring system, go to RL Automotive's stand. Its new TyreWatch system monitors a fleet's tyres 24/7, via sensors inserted inside each wheel rim reporting to a display screen in the cab and back to fleet managers via a GPS transmitter and mobile connection.

RL describes TyreWatch as "a complete and affordable monitoring package that can be easily installed in a truck or trailer and will virtually eliminate tyre-related roadside breakdowns, as well as enhance driver safety". Make your own mind up.
