Renault begins serial production of electric trucks

Renault Trucks has announced that it is beginning serial production this month of its D and D Wide ZE electric trucks at its Blainville-sur-Orne plant, in France.

The site has a new 1,800m² building for ZE work, next to its assembly line for the distribution range.

The Renault D and D Wide ZE are assembled on the same line as the equivalent diesel models, before moving to the new ZE building for technicians to carry out additional operations and quality tests.

Manufacture starts one week prior to the electric trucks passing through the assembly line, with preliminary operations performed within the ZE building. Various subassemblies such as drive, engine, gearbox and central unit, are assembled by technicians and transported to the assembly line to be mounted on to the vehicle.

Renault Trucks predicts that electric vehicles will represent 10% of its sales volume by 2025.
