Tower Transit orders first Euro 6 Wrightbus Streetlites in London 26 January 2015

Tower Transit has ordered 11 new Wrightbus StreetLite buses to TfL (Transport for London) specification, and is expecting delivery next month (February 2015).

Specified with Daimler Euro 6 engines, all 11 vehicles are 10.8m in length with twin doors to the TfL specification and incorporating Tower Transit's combination of grey and green colours throughout the interior.

Alan Coney, engineering director at Tower Transit, says he expects the StreetLite single deck buses to lead to significant fuel and CO2 savings.

"We already have experience of operating Wrightbuses in London, with the eight hydrogen fuel cell vehicles operating the RV1 route," states Coney.

"Based on diesel technology, the new StreetLites will provide exceptional levels of environmental performance and fuel efficiency."

"We are delighted to have won not only our first ever StreetLite order from Tower Transit, but also the first Euro 6 StreetLite order into London," comments Ian Downie, sales and customcare managing director for Wrightbus.

"The customer chose the StreetLite over other available options based upon the anticipated fuel savings, as well as the quality of the chassis," he adds.

Established in 2013, Tower Transit Group now employs just under 2,000 staff and operates more than 600 single and double deck buses from six garages in London and Cambridge.
