Watts Coaches recently took delivery of a Volvo B9R coach, after the manufacturer committed to delivering the vehicle in the operator's tight timeframe.
The Cardiff-based operator's latest acquisition was specified with Jonckheere bodywork, and fitted with a Volvo rear-mounted, six-cylinder, 9-litre diesel engine capable of delivering 380bhp.
The B9R also has an I-Shift 12-speed, fully automated mechanical gearbox along with the VR3250 compact retarder, giving powerful auxiliary braking.
"We have had Volvo coaches previously and Volvo Bus was able to supply us with a cost-effective coach in the timeframe we required," confirms James Watts, managing director.
"The coach has already covered some 10,000km on our continental tour work and has just got back from a 10-day trip, so consistency and reliability are clearly important factors for us," he adds.
"We're taking a keen interest in the B9R's performance in terms of fuel economy and will be able to make a full assessment after we've run the coach for a couple of months."
