WH Malcolm makes the gradient with Skylift

WH Malcolm is using a customised heavy-duty platform lift, from Sterti Koni, to facilitate vehicle washbay operations at its Glasgow site.

The 35-tonne capacity Skylift (model Sky350) has been specially designed for a sloping slipway within the quayside of a former shipyard on the River Clyde.

Stertil Koni engineers designed a recess for the drive-on end of the lift to a depth of 350mm. The front end of the lift is built up on 350mm concrete pads, so the lift is completely level and, when fully extended, the front of the lift is over 2.5m high.

The Sky350 has a platform length of 14.5m to safely accommodate the range of vehicles in the WH Malcolm fleet. The platforms are fully hot-dip galvanised and all lift supports are coated to resist moisture and debris.
