GSC Vehicle auditor vacancy 10 July 2023

Go South Coast is the largest public transport provider (PSV) on the south coast operating circa 800 buses and coaches and forms part of the well-respected Go-Ahead Group.

As this role covers all Go South Coast garage sites, including the Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Dorset and East Hampshire, a company vehicle is provided. On occasion, this role requires visits to other UK locations, to carry out vehicle inspections.

Reporting directly to the Senior fleet Auditor, this job role requires a self-managing, motivated individual and who can work on their own to provide support to both Engineering and Operations Departments and to assist with ensuring Go South Coast is compliant with current transport legislation and fulfils the obligations of the Operator’s License.

Main duties

To carry out audit inspections of buses, coaches, and other company vehicles.
To assist with audits of Engineering Systems and Records, including electronic systems.
To assist with any non-compliance investigations
To carry out audits of drivers carrying out First Use Checks
To assist with training of Engineers in Vehicle Inspections, Wheel Fitment, and other tasks.
To assist with investigations of recurring or significant component failure
To assist with any investigations of serious roadside incidents and the reporting of such incidents to DVSA within the PSV112 procedure.
Attend and contribute to Manufactures service meetings in the absence of the Senior fleet auditor

Essential experience & qualifications

Knowledge of PSV MOT testing and DVSA PSV standards.
Knowledge of current and developing bus industry technologies.
Experience of Large Vehicle repair and maintenance.
Able to work with and communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the company.
Basic computer skills
Qualified to NVQ Level 3 and BTEC or equivalent in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering.
Flexible approach to working hours, working locations and a can-do attitude.
Must be prepared to cover depot-based Engineers in the event of staff shortage i.e., holidays/sickness

A PSV Driver’s License is desirable but not essential
