Allison Transmission gears up for centenary22 January 2015

Allison Transmission Holdings has announced it will be staging a number of special events and activities this year to commemorate 100 years in business.

Founder James A Allison was a motor racing enthusiast and co-founder of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He established a precision machine shop, called the Allison Experimental Co, and designed equipment for several racing teams that he part owned.

Today, the $2 billion organisation is the world's largest manufacturer of fully automatic commercial vehicle transmissions.
