Automatic snow chains extended to yard tractors08 December 2015

Onspot – the automatic traction control (ATC) system for trucks, vans and buses – is now also available for shunting tractors in yards, ports and factory depots.

The system, distributed by VBG, is installed on the rear drive axle and comes with tailored vehicle brackets to ensure stable mounting.

Its sealed cylinder and self-adjusting arms enable easy installation and the system requires no maintenance or servicing, according to Lennart Klingzell, product marketing manager of VBG Truck Equipment.

The company says that Onspot ATC makes it easier to prevent winter accidents: drivers simply press a dash-mounted button, which activates or deactivates snow chains while– at speeds up to 50 km/h.

When activated, Onspot positions snow chains under the rear wheels so improving friction by a claimed 30% and resulting in immediate increased traction.

Initially, Onspot is available for the Terberg YT222 and YT182 models and for the Terberg RT403.
