Certas aims to clear up confusion over alternative fuels04 December 2018

While one in seven of UK transport, construction and public sector representatives intend to source alternative fuels in the coming year, only a fifth can identify the most sustainable fuel type.

That is a key finding of a survey, commissioned by fuel and lubricant supplier Certas Energy, the results of which were presented at its Clean Air Conference, held in London last month (13 November).

The company says there is widespread confusion amongst UK businesses when it comes to what constitutes sustainable alternatives to conventional fuels.

To address this it has published a report, the Alternative Guide to Navigating the New Energy Mix, in which it outlines alternative fuel solutions and shares proven examples of those already available and in use.

“The results of the research are certainly eye-opening – there is a clear demand for alternatives to standard diesel yet also confusion around which way to turn for a solution,” says Brian Worrall, director of corporate affairs at Certas Energy, which is the sole UK provider of Shell GTL fuel, a cleaner burning alternative to diesel.

“In reality, there is no silver bullet solution to overcome all air quality issues, but rather a mix of different technologies and options that can take us on the journey from today, towards the ultimate end goal of zero emissions in the future.”
