United Utilities confirms Volvo tipper fleet expansion 23 December 2010

Providing some good news going into 2011, United Utilities has announced it is set to add to its fleet of 69 Volvo trucks.

The water services utility says it has earmarked a couple of Volvo FHs for purchase in January – an 8x4 and a 6x4 complete with sleeper cabs, I–Shift transmissions and Euro 5 engines.

"As part of our rolling vehicle replacement plan, we are looking forward to taking delivery of 11 new vehicles during 2011," explains Martin Shaw, Vactor services manager for United Utilities.

"These vehicles will add to our already-strong fleet and assist United Utilities with their sewage, sludge and water movements across the North West."

Shaw comments that, beyond cost and performance advantages, United Utilities appreciates Volvo's driver enhancement courses and Driver CPC training.

"Driver training benefits both our younger and older drivers, helping them to improve their driving skills and keeping them up-to-date with today's modern vehicles," he explains.
