The revolutionary fridge unit is the result of collaboration with Hubbard Products, based on Dearman’s liquid nitrogen-powered engine, and has been on trial with Sainsbury’s since June last year.
Michael Ayres, deputy chief executive of Dearman, makes the point that TRUs (transport refrigeration unit) powered by conventional secondary diesel engines can emit up to six times more NOx and 30 times more PM (particulate matter) than Euro 6 heavy-duty diesel engines.
However, the Hubbard-Dearman TRU completely eliminates emissions of both gaseous pollutants.
“This is Britain’s biggest road transport event and an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the ground-breaking Dearman system,” states Ayres.
“Clean systems must deliver performance, compete on cost, and be zero emission,” he continues.
