Delphi delivers common rail repair kits for Euro 5 aftermarket 17 July 2012

Delphi Product & Service has launched its largest common rail repair programme in five years, covering DFP 3 and 6 common rail pumps, and DFI 1.5 injectors for aftermarket Euro 5 engines.

Lúcia Veiga Moretti, president of Delphi Product & Service Solutions, makes the point that there are now more than 3 million vehicles fitted with Delphi's Euro 5 fuel injection system.

"Delphi's latest repair solution represents a significant growth opportunity for garages in maintaining these vehicles to Euro 5 emissions standards," comments Moretti.

"Delphi's repair programme includes all of the key components of the common rail fuel injection system. The availability of these parts will further enhance the capabilities of the authorised Delphi common rail repair network," she adds.

The DFP 6 common rail pump is fitted with a single plunger, roller and shoe system, and generates high pressure diesel in the injection system. With 2,000 bar capability, the launch covers Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen applications.

Also handling up to 2,000 bar, the DFP3 pumps are fitted with three- and two-plunger designs. A transfer pump is optional and the pumps have an inlet metering valve.

DFP3 pumps cover Citroën, Dacia, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Renault, and Ssangyong applications.

Finally, Delphi's fast solenoid DFI 1.5 diesel fuel injectors for light duty vehicles also cover up to 2,000 bar, with increased multiple injections. The new injector has a combined valve adaptor (CVA), increased reliability with the 'diamond-like carbon' (DLC) nozzle and is claimed to be compatible with worldwide fuels.

Applications include popular Chevrolet, Citroën, Dodge, Ford, Great Wall, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles.

Moretti says that, using Hartridge test equipment and Delphi IRIS software, Delphi's authorised repair network can diagnose, remove, repair and refit Delphi CR systems correctly and efficiently.

However, she also warns that any operation on the pump or injector may generate contaminating particles that will cause malfunctions in the injection system.

"The sequence of ultrasound cleaning, rinsing or flushing is the only way to remove contamination from the injector body. Delphi's process, tooling and final tests using Hartridge test equipment preserves the integrity of the solenoid injectors and high pressure pumps after repair operations."
