Gray & Adams reports profits of almost £10m 12 February 2018

Fraserburgh-based Gray & Adams has announced pre-tax profits of almost £10 million for the last financial year.

The family-owned, temperature-controlled trailer and bodybuilder increased turnover by 19% in the year to 30 April 2017, to more than £148 million.

Mark Grant, group finance director, said the latest positive figures were “boosted” by additional orders which are not a regular occurrence.

He said: “We are accustomed to building large quantity orders, but this year’s results were boosted by a handful of large trailer and truck body orders that are not an annual occurrence.

“As a result, production levels across all our four manufacturing locations increased and productivity improvements have led to greater profits.”

This financial success is one of many accomplishments achieved by Gray & Adams in 2017 – its 60th anniversary year. The company hosted a visit from HRH Prince Charles to celebrate the milestone (pictured); it also took top spot in both the refrigerated rigid and refrigerated trailer categories at the 2017 Temperature-Controlled Storage & Distribution Awards, held in September.

The company is said to be considering several major capital investment projects for 2018.
