Haulier switched on to benefits of Carrier’s Foretrack10 July 2017

Haulage firm 3 Distribution is using Carrier Transicold’s upgraded Foretrack system to remotely alter the set point of its transport refrigeration units.

The King’s Lynn-based operator is one of the first customers in the UK to use the new Foretrack technology, after trialling the system and providing feedback during its development.

Foretrack is Carrier’s tracking, telematics and fleet management system, and is now available for download as a mobile app on both iOS and Android devices.

The upgraded version features two-way communication from a connected device anywhere in the world. New functionality includes the ability to remotely alter the set point or operation mode, as well as initiate defrosts and pre-trip checks, and clear alarms.

“The ability to constantly monitor our multi-temperature fridges and change the settings while they’re on the road has proved invaluable when guaranteeing cold chain integrity for our customers,” says Patrick Finch, managing director of 3 Distribution.

“In the unlikely event the fridge hasn’t been reset or is at an incorrect temperature, we can log in and save a small human error from potentially spoiling a load.”

The latest version of Foretrack also features an enhanced voice alert and escalation mechanism, which auto-escalates alarms to a higher level if they aren’t dealt with quickly by the first person in the chain. Fuel levels can also be monitored.
